Why do the Representative Democracy Needs Citizens?
In the professionalized democracies, the role of the citizens is reduced to the mere legitimization of the rule of political parties. Th e citizen is much more the object, rather than the subject of politics. Making politics happens not by the citizen but for the citizen, though, sometimes we could have the feeling, that against the will of the citizen. In a participatory democracy the role of the state can’t be degraded to the redistribution of wealth, while decision-making became the monopoly of political officials. The major task of the state is to create opportunities for participation and to redistribute the decision-making competencies. The state have to take responsibility for individuals becoming citizens and so they are able to act politically and socially.
